Afformations

For the last few days, I've been exploring Noah St. John's Power Habits System, a 10-session course on changing unconscious habits. The system is a relatively science-light approach to behavioral change—he refers to research occasionally but doesn't really cite any—but I'm finding it enjoyable and useful regardless.

I've also read the free excerpt of his book The Book of Afformations: Discovering the Missing Piece to Abundant Health, Wealth, Love, and Happiness, which suggests that instead of using affirmations—statements—you instead ask yourself empowering questions, which could lead to more productive problem-solving. It's not a bad idea.

Inspired by my reading and listening, last night I moved my alarm clock from beside my bed across the room on top of a dresser. You know what? Instead of hitting snooze first thing this morning and dozing for another hour—my usual practice—I had to get up to turn the thing off. And voila: I was up at 6 a.m., something I've been wanting to start doing.

Have any EmpowerMentors used St. John's Afformations? What's your experience been?
